BRIEF & RULES
Everything you need to know to participate in the Unity Engine challenge
Thomas Winkley has designed a Unity task that can be completed in under 2 weeks.
- All Unity Engine programmers (C#)
- All Seniorities welcome and taken into consideration when designing the prompt
- No other disciplines required - You can use free/bought assets!
- Sign Up for the challenge through this registration form
- The brief of the challenge will be available in the "Prompt section" of this webpage on 18.3
- Submissions will be accepted from 18.3 - 7.14 through this submission form
- It's Go Time! - You have 3 Weeks to complete and submit your working code to GitHub, and upload your playable version to itch.io. Please ensure both pages mention the content as an entry for the 'Games Job Fair Spring 2024 LITE - Unity Engine Programming Challenge'
- If you do not have a GitHub or itch.io account, please create one for free
- Links to code and game pages are shared with GFT through the submission form
- Submissions Close on 7.4 at 23:59 EEST
- This is a solo project, so no team submissions allowed.
Endless Runners
Create your own take on an endless runner. This can be for any platform you choose.

Requirements:
- A complete Gameplay loop with Start | Running | End States
- Made with Unity, the game can be 2D or 3D.
- Minimum 2 specific mechanics that make the game unique
- Make sure to start with a basic design document that captures your goals
- Break those down into a technical doc so you know what systems you'll need to build.
- This doesn't have to be a game! Just make sure whatever you build meets the above requirements.
- If you need art assets check out the Unity Asset Store
- Set up some kind of version control to help back up your work (Github or PlasticSCM)
- Developers sign up through a registration form. Last date of registration is 7.4
- Working code is posted on GitHub
- Playable version is posted on itch.io
- Link to code on GitHub and itch.io page shared with GFT through the submission form
- Participants have 3 Weeks to complete and submit their code - Submissions will be accepted from 18.3 - 7.4
- (Optional) Participants can share images, videos, links to WIPs on a designated Discord channel (after submissions close)
- The submissions will be judged on 3 categories - Best Overall Concept, Best Technical Execution, and Most Creative
- The judges are the tech leads from the sponsoring studios
- The judges attend a panel discussion where they review the code and share their observations
- A live session takes place on GFT's LinkedIn Live on 18th April at Games Job Fair Spring 2024 LITE to reveal the winners and review their code
Top 3 entries will each receive
- A monetary award of 330 euro per winner.
- Recognition Digital Certificate signed by Thomas Winkley and Games Factory Talent
